Keep Calm and Carry On.

Welcome to another episode of Insightful. I'm Marcus Theodor, and like always, I'm not interested in discussing equipment or techniques for wedding videography. Today, I want to emphasize the importance of keeping brides calm and grounded on their wedding day, and how you can contribute to that process.

Let me share a recent wedding experience to provide some context. During the bride's preparation before the ceremony, there was a lot of excitement and nerves as guests gathered downstairs. In such moments, it's crucial to ensure the bride remains comfortable and at ease. If she looks uncomfortable, it will reflect poorly in the captured footage.

However, capturing every moment isn't my priority if it means the bride is stressed. I believe it's better to pause filming, let her catch her breath, and have a conversation that brings her back to the moment. Reminding her of the true meaning of the day, which is marrying the person she loves, can make a significant difference.

Engaging in these dialogues is vital and shouldn't be underestimated. If you're not naturally inclined to have these conversations, it's essential to learn and practice doing so. Staying silent when you see the bride angry or stressed because you think it's not your place is the wrong approach.

While there may be situations beyond your control, such as family dynamics or unknown histories, it's important to recognize when you can assist and when you can't. Saying it has nothing to do with you is not the right approach. In general, when you see someone upset, it's a good thing to offer them reason and empathy.

As a wedding videographer, your main focus should be the couple's experience. Their joy becomes your joy, and this forms the foundation of wedding videography and the key to creating exceptional visuals for your clients.
