Every destination
feels like home.

Elyse opened by admitting the obvious. "I talk a lot, but I'm a bit nervous." She thanked the room, then her parents and her sister — her safe place, her biggest supporters, her constant. "You taught me what love looks like, what family means, and how to show up for the people you care about. Every value I carry into this marriage, every ounce of strength and love I have, is because of you. Everything good in me started with you." Somewhere in there she stopped to wipe her eyes, and told everyone so.

Then she turned to Mo. "You are my best friend, my calm in every storm, and the person my heart chose long before today." They've travelled a long way together — across cities, across oceans. "But no matter how far we've travelled, my favourite place has always been right beside you. Because with you, every destination feels like home." And the promise underneath it: "Every version of me — past, present and future — feels at home with you."

Mo went last, and admitted he'd written his the night before. "I honestly don't know how I got this lucky. You walked into my life and somehow made everything calmer, brighter and more meaningful." He thanked his parents and family for raising them well enough to be standing there at all, then found the line that got the biggest laugh of the night — that Elyse always knows when something is wrong even when he says he's fine, and has somehow organised his entire life without him noticing. "They say you marry your best friend. And today I truly did." He raised his glass to love, to family, to friends, and to forever.
